Here are the Stories I am currently working on:
HORROR
The names might change over time
1) Modern Day Vampire Hunter
2) Family of Monster Fighters
The Dead Of Night.
To some, these words have no meaning. They are not really thought of at all. Most of these people have never even heard the words.
To many, the words refer to a specific time of day. Most people think that this refers to Midnight. This is not the real meaning of the words, but it is close. These words really refer to the deepest, darkest part of the night which is usually a time other than Midnight. Usually after the Witching Hour (another story for another day) has struck.
To a few, these words take on other meanings. Fear, terror, nightmares, to name just a few. Some wake at night to find their hearts racing and their heads pounding with pain. Others wake screaming, filled with an dread born of some unreasoning horror.
Some of these few are truly unfortunate for these words take on a frightful, physical presence. The pain and suffering that they endure are almost unspeakable. Death is a welcome release. To these people the Dead Of Night refer to Ghouls and Ghasts, Banshees and Zombies, and other creatures of the night. These creatures like to dine on the flesh of the living, usually while the man or woman is still alive. Others survive on the physic pain it can inflict on a human mind. A pain so unbearable it is worse than any physical pain that can be inflicted on the living.
This tale, however, is not about these tortured folk. It is a tale of a group of brave and selfless souls, a small family, that has devoted it’s lives to eradicating these horrible things. They endeavor to protect mankind even though the very people they are trying to save do not know of them or the hardships they endure. They are not paid in “coin of the realm” as the saying goes, but rather by the spiritual fulfillment that comes with doing a great service for your fellow man. And the blessings that God bestows upon them for their selfless acts.
